This course explores the critical understanding of indoor air pollutants, including those emitted by 3D printers, and their significant impacts on human health. Participants will identify prevalent indoor air pollutants and learn about their adverse effects on well-being; gain insights into specific emissions from 3D printers, alongside the various factors influencing their volume and type. With research-backed information, this course will guide participants through evaluating practical options for minimizing health risks associated with 3D printer emissions and explore effective strategies for reducing exposure, from informed purchasing decisions to operational best practices. Participants will also be equipped with actionable steps to enhance indoor air quality by staying updated on the latest advancements and mitigation tactics. By the end of this course, nurses will be well-prepared to adopt and advocate for practices that safeguard indoor environments and promote public health.
Dr. Black, with over 35 years of experience, is active in national and international scientific organizations, the National Academies, and community outreach. She has received prestigious awards, including the Ford Motor Company Public Service Changemaker Award and the National Keystone Center Leadership Award in Environment, and was named an Environmental Champion by the design community. With 200+ peer-reviewed publications and invited work, she has testified before Congress on air quality and human health. Dr. Black holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, an M.S. from the University of Florida, and a B.S. from the University of Virginia in Chemistry, plus an AI certification from MIT Sloan.
